On December 7, 2023, a significant milestone was marked at the University of the Philippines-Baguio (UP Baguio) as the Abra State Institute of Science and Technology (ASIST) officially received the signed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between ASIST and UP Baguio solidifying a strategic partnership between the premier state university of the country and the lone state university college of Abra. This collaboration is deeply rooted in the shared commitment to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

The collaborative efforts between ASIST and UP Baguio are set to flourish until May 2025, aiming to boost the Graduate School programs through innovative co-teaching methodologies. Furthermore, the partnership seeks to foster a collaborative community by engaging in joint Research, Training, and Extension initiatives. Various forms of collaboration are envisioned to ignite a vibrant exchange of expertise and knowledge between the two esteemed institutions.

This partnership's foundation was laid on May 25, 2023, when the UP Baguio Executive Team visited ASIST to explore avenues of support for ASIST's quest for Universityhood. The Executive Team engaged in fruitful discussions with the ASIST Management Committee (ManCom), presenting UP Baguio's resources and best practices that could be adopted or nurtured through this newfound partnership. A strong commitment to collaboration was forged during this meeting.

During their visit, the UP Baguio Executive Team had the opportunity to explore the three ASIST campuses, delving into the intricacies of the Research and Development Office and the Extension and Training Services Office. This immersive experience allowed for a deeper understanding of ASIST's capabilities and potential areas for collaboration.

The partnership between ASIST and UP Baguio is poised to yield significant educational outcomes and foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge exchange. As the two institutions embark on this shared journey, the prospects for mutual growth and advancement in pursuing Sustainable Development Goals are undoubtedly promising.
