Lagangilang, Abra – The first phase of the Faculty Academic Re-Engineering Program (FRAME) was successfully launched at the ASIST Training and Development Center on November 21-22, 2024 by the Abra State Institute of Science and Technology (ASIST), which will soon be known as the University of Abra.
The five-day training, which had as its theme "LEAD: Leadership and Management Evaluation towards ASIST Development for a Globally Competitive and Locally Responsive Institution," brought together Department Chairpersons, Program Heads, Directors, Deans, Unit Heads, Vice President, and President of ASIST. The program's objectives were to realign organizational goals with the institution's vision of becoming a full-fledged university, create a five-year institutional development plan, and carry out a thorough management audit.
Prominent figures including Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Noel B. Begnalen, and ASIST President, Dr. Gregorio T. Turqueza, Jr., were among the resource speakers. Important subjects covered in the sessions included risk assessments, institutional audits, strategic planning, and improving operational procedures. Among other things, these initiatives support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for Decent Work, Gender Equality, and Quality Education.
In order to guarantee adherence to Commission on Higher Education (CHED) requirements, the training also included seminars for assessing gaps, evaluating current programs and organizational structures, and creating workable plans. The participants worked together to improve policies, update Standard Operating Procedures, and develop institutional innovation frameworks.
President Turqueza stressed in his keynote address the significance of empowerment-based management and visionary leadership in accomplishing ASIST's goals. "This program is about empowering our institution to provide transformative education and services that meet the needs of our community and stakeholders, not just about compliance," he stated.
Workshop presentations, a thorough audit report, and workable strategies to close any holes found throughout the sessions marked the program's conclusion. Dr. Begnalen, Vice President for Academic Affairs, reaffirmed the administration's dedication to institutional quality and praised the participants for their enthusiastic participation.
With these efforts, ASIST is well-positioned to advance further in its transformation into the University of Abra, achieving its goal of improving Abreños' quality of life and promoting sustainable development.
