The Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology delegation, led by Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Noel B. Begnalen, and CAS Social Sciences faculty members, Mr. Petronilo D. Elveña and Mr. Patrick A. Benedito, attended the Higher Education Regional Summit spearheaded by the Commission on Higher Education-Cordillera Administrative Region (CHED-CAR) in partnership with Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) on July 13, 2022. The regional summit, with the theme: Intergenerational and Lifelong Learning, was part of the celebration of Cordillera Month. Highlights of the event include the discussion about championing accessible and relevant education services, presentation of possible Affirmative Action Programs that may be adopted by HEIs, especially by SUCs, in line with part of Section 7 (Benefits) under Rule II (Free Higher Education) of R. A. 10931 Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR), and presentation and adoption of Cordillera Heritage 101, a 3-unit general course that shall be offered across all programs in all HEIs starting First Semester of Academic Year 2022-2023.
 
Another highlight of the summit is the transfer of leadership of the Cordillera Administrative Region Association of State Universities and Colleges (CARASUC), with Ifugao State University (IFSU) President, Dr. Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon, taking over as President of the association, succeeding MPSPC President, Dr. Rexton F. Chakas.
