The Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology (ASIST) recently played host to the Cordillera Administrative Region State Universities and Colleges (CAR SUCs) Governing Board Meeting on August 1-2, 2024. The event brought together key education and government officials from Kalinga State University (KSU), Ifugao State University (IFSU), Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC), and ASIST to discuss and strategize relevant concerns of their respective SUCs.
CHED Commissioner, Dr. Marita R. Canapi, led the CAR SUCs Governing Board Meetings with the the CAR Regional Directors, who were members of the CAR SUCs Governing Board: NEDA-CAR Director, Dr. Susan A. Sumbeling; DOST-CAR Director, Dr. Nancy A. Bantog; and CHEDRO-CAR Director, Dr. Demetrio P. Anduyan Jr.
The meeting served as a platform for fruitful discussions and decision-making processes that are instrumental in advancing the quality of education in the region through the SUCs. Thus, one of the key highlights of the ASIST Governing Board Meeting was the approval of all agenda items which reflects the commitment of the ASIST Governing Board to address the institution’s unique concerns and to implement solutions that uphold academic standards and promote community development.
Dr. Gregorio T. Turqueza Jr., ASIST President, held a President’s Night to warmly welcome the CAR SUCs Governing Board and esteemed guests providing an opportunity for everyone to enjoy and experience the distinct hospitality and culture of Abra. In addition, Dr. Canapi and the Regional Directors were able to visit the ASIST Main Campus La Paz Extension and Bangued Campus, after the meetings, gaining hands-on insights into the facilities and educational programs offered by the institution.
The successful outcome of the respective Governing Board Meeting of KSU, IFSU, MPSPC, and ASIST, strengthens the foundation for collaborations and initiatives that will further advance the future of higher education in CAR.
