On August 15, 2024, the Gender and Development Office conducted a significant seminar titled "Differential Effects of Mental Health Issues to Men and Women." at ASIST Main Campus, Lagangilang, Abra, Mr. Elizier B. Lazo delivered the welcome remarks emphasizing the need for employees to be educated on mental health and stress management. His introduction set a meaningful tone for the day, highlighting the importance of mental health education in the workplace.
Dr. Gregorio Turqueza gave a motivational speech at the seminar, encouraging attendees to participate actively. He also extended a warm welcome to the resource speaker. In her talk, Dr. Bangles-Baldo skillfully covered the distinct mental health issues that various genders deal with, including work-life balance, gender discrimination, and expectations from society. She covered important themes and encouraged participation throughout the eight-hour program by combining lectures, engaging tasks, and interesting presentations.
By lowering stigma in the workplace, offering helpful coping mechanisms, and increasing awareness of gender-specific mental health issues, the program effectively achieved its goals. Participants in the seminar consisting of selected faculty and non-teaching staff from three campuses actively engaged in the discussion and expressed satisfaction with its outcome. The participants valued the content's relevancy as well as the practical knowledge they learned for stress management and improving work-life balance. Dr. Susie Bangles-Baldo's workshop created a nurturing atmosphere that improved participants' capacity to manage their mental health and overall sense of well-being.
