The General Administrative Support Services (GASS), under the leadership of Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Elizier B. Lazo and the efforts of Ms. Lory Mae Del Rosario, who served as the proponent and coordinator, successfully hosted a seminar titled "Innovative Workspaces: Leveraging Technology for Maximum Productivity and Inclusivity" from November 20-22, 2024, in Baguio City. The event was attended by 45 participants from various offices within the GASS Department. The resource speaker, Dr. Engr. Beverly Estephany P. Ferrer, a specialist in the Information Technology industry and a professor at the prestigious Saint Louis University, provided valuable insights on the topic.

November 20, 2024

The participants from the General Administrative Support Services (GASS) departed from the ASIST Main Campus at around 9:30 AM on November 20, 2024. Two buses were hired to transport 45 employees to Baguio City for a seminar. Jaimelita Madayag, one of the seminar facilitators, conducted a quick briefing and led a prayer. Meanwhile, Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Elizier B. Lazo offered some advice and wished everyone a safe trip, while Mr. Joel Del Rosario coordinated with the bus drivers and conductors to ensure safe travel. Ms. Kendy Babe Gasmen, a facilitator, and representative from the GAD office, served as the coordinator for Bus #1 (MITCHAKOY), while Jaimelita Madayag took on the role for Bus #2 (Fred and Cathy).

Around 12:30 PM, the participants decided to stop for lunch at Kapangan’s Bulaluhan at Kambingan in Balaoan, La Union. After lunch, they continued their journey without any issues on the road, aside from some traffic in the central area of Baguio City. They safely arrived at Teacher’s Camp at around 4:30 PM, where the transient staff greeted them and distributed the keys to their rooms.

November 21, 2024

On November 21, 2024, the General Administrative and Support Services (GASS) Department successfully hosted a seminar focused on the future of work in Baguio City. The event, themed "Innovative Workspaces: Leveraging Technology for Maximum Productivity and Inclusivity," aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to adapt to the evolving workplace.

A Productive Start:

The seminar commenced at 8:52 AM with an opening ceremony. Ms. Kendy Gasmen welcomed the attendees, followed by the Philippine National Anthem led by Ms. Daisarie Alcaide and an invocation by Ms. Aubrey Fabriga. Ms. Sharon Cleofe V. Borgonia then delivered the welcome remarks and rationale for the seminar.

The highlight of the day was the keynote address by Dr. Beverly Estephany P. Ferrer, a renowned expert in information technology. Dr. Ferrer, a distinguished professor at Saint Louis University, shared her insights on how technology can revolutionize workspaces. Her engaging presentation covered topics such as Gender Inclusivity in technology fields, digital transformation through the Current technological trends affecting workplaces, exploring key technologies and innovation, and identifying challenges and opportunities in the workplace.

To enhance learning, a practical workshop was conducted in the afternoon. Dr. Ferrer guided participants in groups as they worked on real-world problem-solving exercises.

A Day of Learning and Networking

Throughout the day, refreshments were provided to keep participants energized. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, mid-morning, and afternoon snacks were served.

The seminar concluded with a group photo with Dr. Ferrer and a brief closing ceremony. The participants left the event inspired and equipped with the knowledge to create innovative and efficient workspaces.

By the end of the day, the seminar had successfully achieved its objectives of providing valuable insights, fostering collaboration, and empowering participants to embrace the future of work.

November 22, 2024

The second day of the seminar on "Innovative Workspaces: Leveraging Technology for Maximum Productivity and Inclusivity" commenced with a unique arrangement for breakfast. Due to the absence of a hired catering service, participants who desired a meal were able to order from the previous day's provider. This accommodation ensured a convenient and timely start to the day's activities.

The morning session began with a lively Zumba session led by Mr. Vincent Tayaben, energizing the participants. The formal program was then initiated by Ms. Kendy Babe Gasmen, who served as the emcee. The Philippine National Anthem was sung, led by Ms. Harmony Gonzalo, followed by an invocation led by Ms. Richelle Mae Paligutan.

A key highlight of the day was the sharing of impressions from various attendees. Ms. Rosemelita Anical from the Registrar's Office, Engr. Michael Honor from the Project Development Management Office, and Ms. Geraldine Viado from the LaPaz Extension provided valuable feedback on the seminar's content and delivery.

The seminar also included a feedback and evaluation session. Mr. Joey Mejia from the Production Department, representing Group 1, and Ms. Janina Barros from the Human Resource Management Office, representing Group 2, shared their thoughts on the seminar. Ms. Frances Torreliza from the Internal Audit Office provided a comprehensive evaluation, touching on aspects such as the resource speaker, venue, accommodation, meals, safety, and facilitators.

The attendees expressed their appreciation for the insights gained on gender inclusivity in technology fields, emphasizing the importance of equity, equality, and employee well-being. They also acknowledged the significance of digital transformation and its impact on workplace productivity and efficiency.

As the morning session concluded, participants were advised to go out for lunch, as the catering service for the day was not provided.
