Together with the Office of Extension and Training Services, the Engineering Department of the College of Engineering and Industrial Technology (CEIT) successfully held a community training session at Brgy on July 2, 2023. Abra, Langiden, and Quillat. The goal of this project was to teach the locals how to use creative methods and simple technological configurations to enhance cellular signal access. An important first step in resolving connection issues in rural areas was the training.
The event began with an opening prayer led by Ar. Janus Mauri A. Reyes, followed by the singing of the National Anthem. Engr. Orlando A. Lomboy, CEIT's college dean, welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of improved signal access for educational and day-to-day activities. Training coordinator, Engr. Arjhon M. Valera, provided an overview of the day’s activities, setting the stage for an engaging and educational workshop.
CEIT faculty members, including experts in mechanical and electronics engineering, served as resource speakers. Engr. Eleoreph Llabado highlighted safety precautions when handling electronics, while Engr. Hanna Jamila V. Flores guided participants through the setup of signal boosters using different antenna types. The practical demonstration at Quillat Elementary School resulted in noticeable signal improvements, benefiting the local community.
Participants expressed gratitude for the hands-on training, recognizing its potential to enhance communication for students and teachers alike. The program concluded with closing remarks from Engr. Desiree Desalla, who thanked Barangay Captain and residents for their support. The event ended with an evaluation to gather feedback, ensuring continuous improvement of future outreach programs.
