The MOA signing between Abra State Institute of Science and Technology (ASIST) with the National Apiculture Research Training and Development Institute (NARTDI) at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), Bacnotan, La Union last February 13, 2025 is a fundamental step in recognizing apiculture as a crucial element of agriculture, particularly in the pollination of cross pollinated crops such as fruit trees, vegetables, cereals, vine crops, grasses and shrubs, ensuring their maximum yield potentials and perpetuation of wild plant species; and offering nutritious and medicinal products while aligning with the farming practices prevalent among Filipino farmers.

The said Memorandum Of Agreement (MOA) established ASIST as the Satellite Apiculture Center in coordination with DMMMSU-NARTDI to serve as the Research, Training and Development Center for Abra and its neighboring local government units.

Present during the MOA Signing is Dr. Gregorio T. Turqueza, Jr., President of the Abra State Institute of Science and Technology (ASIST); Dr. Jaime I. Manuel, Jr., President of the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), Dr. Joseph A. Panas, Center Director for the National Apiculture Research Training and Development Institute (NARTDI); Talugay G.
