Bangued, Abra – The Abra State Institute of Science and Technology (ASIST) recently held a two-day Faculty In-Service Training (INSET) on January 13-14, 2025, at the Social Hall, ASIST Bangued Campus. The event, themed "Transforming Academic Instructions to Ladderized Outcomes by Effective Reinforcements," aimed to enhance the instructional skills of educators and promote internationalization within the institution.
 
Coordinated by Ms. Novelyn Valera and Ms. Gee-Ann V. Besinal, the training featured a series of sessions designed to deepen educators' knowledge and skills in instructional goals, assessment techniques, and curriculum alignment. The first day included discussions on the new taxonomies of instructional goals within the OBE framework and the TOS of licensure exams, led by Ms. Donna Joy Valdez and Mr. Francis Casipit. Dr. Noel Begnalen, Vice President for Academic Affairs, focused on assessment techniques for cognitive levels of recall and reproduction, while Dr. Maria Rebecca B. Talledo, Curriculum and Instructional Materials Development Director, covered assessment techniques for skills, concepts, and strategic and extended thinking.
 

The second day began with a recap by Ms. Geezel De Torres, followed by a workshop on designing summative tests aligned with program outcomes. Dr. Alexis Enriquez, Creative Works Deputy Director, discussed the policies and guidelines of the ASIST Creative Works, encouraging innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration. Dr. Maria Digna T. Bose, Research Ethics Committee Chair, presented the ASIST Research Ethics Standards and Guidelines, emphasizing the ethical responsibilities in research. The final session, led by Dr. Christopher John R. Llanda, College of Arts and Sciences Dean, highlighted the role of faculty in supporting the institution’s internationalization efforts.

The training concluded with representatives from various departments sharing their impressions, followed by closing remarks from Engr. Orlando A. Lomboy and a photo opportunity. The INSET is expected to significantly enhance student performance at ASIST by equipping faculty members with advanced teaching techniques and a global perspective.
