
The Abra State Institute of Science and Technology (ASIST) marked a significant milestone in its academic history with the first Pinning and Send-Off Ceremony for the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science program. Held on February 14, 2025, at the ASIST Social Hall, Bangued Campus, the event celebrated the accomplishments of the graduating class and formally recognized their entry into the professional field.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of esteemed honorary guest, Atty. Mc Vernon Balubal, who shared words of wisdom and inspiration with the graduates.
Ms. Ciela Marie B. Pacopia, Program Head for BA Political Science, delivered a warm welcome address, emphasizing the significance of the occasion and the bright future awaiting the graduates.
Messages of support and encouragement were also shared by ASIST President, Dr. Gregorio T. Turqueza, and Vice President, Dr. Noel P. Begnalen. Agency partners, including the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), represented by Mr. Elmer Timbreza, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), represented by Ms. Jaleemar Andanan Teneza, conveyed their commitment to collaborating with the newly minted political science professionals.
A highlight of the ceremony was the pinning of the graduates by their parents, symbolizing the culmination of years of hard work and dedication. Adding a cultural touch to the event, the UALPC IP Community performed a moving Salidummay song, dedicated to the graduating class.
Mr. Arlon Ralph Campos, PEACE Org Adviser, explained the significance of the pins and ceremonial candle. Following this, Julia Warna Clemente, a graduating BA Political Science student, led her fellow graduates in a solemn oath.
Expressing the gratitude of the graduating class, batch representative Angel Tumalip acknowledged the invaluable contributions of their professors and instructors, including Ms. Ciela Marie B. Pacopia, Ms. Karen Claire Madrid, Mr. Arlon Ralph Campos, Mr. Jhenver Viste, Mr. John Patrick Sanchez, and former professors, Prof. Hazel B. Aznar, Mr. Patrick Benedito, Mr. Fritz Jed Correa, and Mr. VJ Turqueza. The graduates also acknowledged the significant contributions of their General Education instructors: Mr. Ferdinand Pias, Ms. Minerva Alvez, Ms. Koujeenia Joseane Galcon, Mr. Greg Turqueza, Ms. Marnely Barbero, Ms. Mayflor Cabangon, Ms. Sheena Laureta, Ms. Dexie Tuanquin, and Ms. Glenny Peralta.
BSCJ students, under the leadership of Dr. Joe Mary Ruizan, organized a vibrant parade and exit of colors, adding a festive touch to the celebration. Ms. Rie Vidal Apolinar, PEACE Org Business Manager, skillfully emceed the event.
This inaugural Pinning and Send-Off Ceremony signifies the commitment of ASIST to nurturing future leaders and professionals in the field of political science. The program extends its congratulations to the 4th year BA Political Science class and wishes them success in their future endeavors.
