
Lagangilang, Abra – The Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology (ASIST) recently concluded a highly successful two-day Faculty Development Training at its Training and Development Center. Held on January 30-31, 2025, the event was titled “TAILOR: Transforming Academic Instructions to Ladderized Outcomes by effective Reinforcements” and aimed to enhance faculty skills in curriculum development, assessment techniques, and alignment with licensure exam Test of Specification (TOS) and Program Outcomes.
The training was attended by participants from the Main Campus La Paz Extension, including the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Noel B. Begnalen, the Director of the Curriculum and Instructional Materials Development, Dr. Maria Rebecca B. Talledo, program heads, faculty members, and the training team. The event focused on visionary leadership and quality education, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals #4 and #17.
Key sessions were led by distinguished speakers such as Dr. Talledo, Dr. Maria Digna T. Bose, Chair of the Research Ethics Committee, and Dr. Christopher John R. Llanda, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. The training covered crucial institutional policies, curriculum and assessment strategies, and hands-on workshops. Participants engaged in activities such as realigning instructional goals with licensure exam TOS and designing summative tests for various Depth of Knowledge (DOK) levels.
The event concluded with closing ceremonies featuring remarks from the program heads of the Main Campus La Paz Extension, including Mr. Jonathan A. Paligutan (Social Work), Ciela Marie B. Pacopia (Political Science), and Dr. Joe Mary D. Ruizan (Criminology). The training was praised for its informative sessions and practical workshops, which provided faculty with valuable knowledge and skills to improve instructional effectiveness and student learning outcomes.
