
The ASIST BA Political Science Program is proud to announce its participation in the PPSA 2025 International Conference, currently taking place in Baguio City.
The delegation includes BAPOS Program Head Ciela Marie B. Pacopia, BAPOS Research Instructor Karen Claire Madrid, and a select group of third-year BAPOS students: Jaicha Progreso, Jasmine Baccay, MJ Santiago, Ian Diaz, Althea Bello, Millie Aldave, and Werly Mae Jacoba. This marks the first time that PPSA has welcomed students as participants in its international conference, a significant step in the association’s history.
The conference began with a compelling keynote address by Professor Yuko Kasuya, president of the International Political Science Association (IPSA). She discussed the critical issue of Philippine political polarization and its risks to democracy, highlighting the crucial need for research from Filipino political scientists. PPSA President Dr. Jan Robert Go officially opened the conference, setting the stage for discussions and introducing Professor Kasuya.
Additionally, Ms. Pacopia, who has served as the Luzon regional representative for the PPSA since May 2024, is currently seeking re-election for this important position
The participation of the BAPOS exemplifies its commitment to nurturing future political scientists.
