Lagangilang, Abra – The University of Abra (UA) proudly joined the nation in commemorating the 125th Anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service Commission on September 1, 2025, with the theme “Bawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal at Galing para sa Bayan.” The celebration highlighted the vital role of public servants in fostering excellence, integrity, and dedication in government service.

The program opened with an Invocation led by Ms. Marilou Passion, followed by the Flag Ritual led by Ms. Joyce Ann Trinidad. Ms. Jennifer Turqueza led the singing of the National Anthem, after which Mr. Pentton Galvan delivered the Citizen’s Reply. Ms. Jovelienne Astrande led the Panunumpa sa Watawat, while Ms. Omega Ruizan led the Panunumpa ng Kawani ng Gobyerno. The university community then sang the UA Hymn, led by Ms. Agnes Fuerte, as a tribute to the university's values and aspirations.

To formally open the month-long observance, Mrs. Ramelda Begnalen, HRMO III/AOV, announced the schedule of activities for Civil Service Month, underscoring UA’s commitment to upholding the ideals of public service through meaningful events.

A significant highlight of the program was the Oath Taking of Newly Appointed Employees, namely Ms. Joyce Anne B. Trinidad, Mr. Ricardo B. Alconis Jr., Ms. Karen Claire D. Madrid, Ms. Josephine P. Atmosfera, Mr. Jonathan C. Dasalla, Mr. Michael B. Aspacio, Ms. Joveliene A. Astrande, Ms. Eloisa T. Tadeo, Mr. Cedrick John B. Llanda, Mr. Jefferson M. Ballesteros, and Ms. Marilou L. Pasion, administered by Dr. Gregorio T. Turqueza Jr., President. The celebration concluded with the closing remarks of Mr. Elizier B. Lazo, Chief Administrative Officer.

Through this commemoration, the University of Abra reaffirmed its steadfast support for the Civil Service Commission’s mission of building a responsive, ethical, and people-centered government workforce that truly serves as “Lingkod Bayani” for the Filipino nation.
