The Asian Society of Researchers, Educators, and Inventors (ASREI), Inc. successfully hosted its 2025 Mid-Year Research Presentation and Workshop on August 29–31, 2025, with the theme “Fostering Integrity and Responsive Education Through Research and the CaRE Toolkit.” The international conference, held via Zoom, gathered students, educators, and researchers from across the country and abroad to present high-quality research outputs while engaging in scholarly discussions on responsible and ethical research practices.

Representing the Abra State Institute of Science and Technology (ASIST), Social Studies students proudly made their mark in the competition by securing prestigious awards.
???? Best Research Presentation was awarded to the group composed of Krishan Faith T. Inon, Cecille F. Batawang, and Joyce B. Ulin for their study “Struggles and Resilience: Lesbian and Gay Members in Indigenous Communities – A Case Study in Abra.” Their work highlighted the challenges and resilience of LGBTQ+ individuals in indigenous contexts, contributing valuable insights to inclusivity and cultural understanding.

???? The same study also garnered the recognition of 3rd Best Research Abstract, proving its strong impact not only in delivery but also in scholarly writing and conceptualization.

???? Meanwhile, the study “Student Beliefs, Practices, and Strategies in Promoting Gender Equality” presented by Charen May B. Costales, Shinalyn M. Bacud, and Diana B. Saboy won 2nd Best Research Abstract, further showcasing the research excellence of ASIST Social Studies majors.

Beyond these victories, the Social Studies Society (SSS) remains steadfast in its mission to guide and empower BSEd Social Studies students in research endeavors. By fostering a culture of inquiry, critical thinking, and academic integrity, the SSS ensures that its members are equipped not only to excel in competitions but also to contribute meaningful scholarship in their future careers as educators.

The conference also featured workshops on avoiding predatory journals, strengthening qualitative design, and applying the CaRE Toolkit—topics highly relevant to the BSEd Social Studies program, as these build research integrity, methodological rigor, and professional readiness among future educators.

These recognitions not only bring pride to the institution but also affirm the commitment of ASIST’s Social Studies program and the Social Studies Society in producing research-oriented, socially aware, and globally competitive graduates.
