A five-member delegation from the Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology (ASIST) had a trip to Taiwan on February 17 – 22, 2019 for bench-marking purposes. The group visited the National Dong Hwa University (NDHU), the Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU), and the National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology(NKUST).

And the delegation had a meeting with officials of the said universities. The meetings resulted in series of initial talks regarding possible collaborative researches, exchange of students, scholarships for both faculty and students, among others. It was agreed with the Taiwan university officials that they would just wait for correspondence and communications for possible agreements.

The trip was initiated by the Cordillera Administrative Region Association of State Universities and Colleges (CARASUC). Thus, it was participated by representatives coming from the Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology (ASIST), the Apayao State College (ASC), the Benguet State University (BSU), the Ifugao State University (IfSU), the Kalinga State University (KSU), and the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC).

The ASIST delegation was composed of Dr. Gregorio T. Turqueza, College President; Dr. Pablo B. Bose, Jr., Director for Research and Development; Dr. Zarina Mariannette B. Orejudos, Director for Extension and Training; Prof. Milandro B. Edwin, Director for Quality Assurance; and Mr. Elizier B. Lazo, a faculty member and acting College Secretary. (eblazo)
