Determined to take leadership and governance to a higher and advanced level, the Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology (ASIST) joined other State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in the Cordillera Administrative Region in participating at the Regional Futures Consortium Workshop: High Anticipatory Leadership and Governance Executive Course from August 30, 2022 to September 1, 2022, at the Hotel Kimberly, Tagaytay City.
 
Aspiring to be a premier State University in the region, ASIST is committed to enhance every aspect of its functions which, significantly, include leadership and governance. Thus, every opportunity for learning is very much anticipated and appreciated by the institution and the Regional Futures Consortium Workshop is a timely event.
As we enter this era of advancements and concepts of 21st century education, industrial revolution 4.0, and futures thinking were introduced to us, it is fitting to keep up with such developments. This is to ensure higher education in the region remains relevant in today’s fast-paced environment and to realize the aspirations of ASIST for all its stakeholders.
ASIST President, Dr. Gregorio T. Turqueza, reiterated this in his speech during the closing ceremonies of the workshop. Dr. Turqueza identified the leadership course as the right workshop ASIST delegates, headed by Director for Research, Development and Planning, Dr. Pablo B. Bose Jr., have attended because they [ASIST delegates] dream for the future. The workshop helped them become futures thinker which they can use as their advantage to realize their dream.
 
The three-day executive course includes five modules focusing on history and key concepts of anticipatory leadership and governance, theories of social change and anticipatory leadership and governance frameworks, anticipatory leadership and governance tools and methods, case studies on anticipatory leadership and governance, and scanning through the use of regional futures framework. All of which were designed to breed futures thinking leaders aligned with the ethos of CAR.
 
Other ASIST delegates who attended the leadership course were Deputy for Research, Development, and Planning, Dr. Nero M. Paderes, Director for Curriculum and Instructional Materials Development, Dr. Maria Rebecca B. Talledo, Academic Coordinator – La Paz Campus and GAD Focal Person, Ms. Hazel T. Bersamira, Coordinator for Research – Bangued Campus, Mr. Jonathan P. Zales, Associate Professor, Dr. Sammy B. Viste, and Faculty: Ms. Kae Ann Balingit, Ma. Lourdes Bejarin, Mr. Nilo Elveña, and Ms. Bersheeba Taclawan.
